Old Chinese Firecrackers and Fireworks Advertisements
[ML-SH-Ad-42]
US$3.99

On the matchbox labels are old advertisements in early 1900s, made by Chinese firecrackers and fireworks companies.

Fireworks originated in China some 2000 years ago. It was about 1000 years ago when firecrackers were invented. It's a Chinese tradition to use firecrackers at many events such as birth, death, marriage and Spring Festival (traditional Chinese New Year). Chinese believe that the firecrackers can drive away evil spirits and ghosts with their loud bangs, and bring good fortunes.
