This set of 76 matchbox labels is a precious souvenir of old periodicals that have spread popularly in the modern history of China, composed of 76 normal-size labels with various old magazine covers, plus an large-size cover of People Pictorial with the image of Mao Zedong.

Originated by modern activists and scholars during the years from late 19th century to early 20th century, the old pictorials and periodicals have played an important role in the process of advocating science and democracy in China, which contributed greatly to the so-called new Culture Movement in the history.
